Taking home the trophy in our final competitive performance as Gledholt Male Voice Choir

Published on

What a fantastic night for us at our final competitive performance as Gledholt Male Voice Choir (GMVC). Not only was it a joy to perform one final time as GMVC in competitive fashion but winning our class at the wonderful Holmfirth Musical Festival was the cherry on top.

It was also a fitting birthday present for Musical Director Jim Morgan. You will have to head to our socials to see us ambush him at rehearsals with our rendition of Happy Birthday.

A very well done to all, a fantastic turnout and brilliant performance of Voice of the Child and Great Is Thy Faithfulness. The adjudication itself shows just how well we did… "Outstanding" pays homage to the tremendous effort put in by all involved.

The full extract from Robert Marsh, Adjudicator

Performance 1: Voice of the Child by Geoff Richards, Lyrics Sarah Jane McNeill

"A lovely, light sound at the opening. Vocalisation was confident – I appreciated particularly the oo vocalisation. Words were clear without any forced diction. The extremes of pitches were well managed. Intonation was secure overall, good high notes."

Performance 2: Great is Thy Faithfulness by Dan Forrest

"You communicated the intensity of emotion well overall. A well blended sound overall with a feel for phrasing. Part-singing was assured overall. Well done with the modulations and changes of dynamics."
